Seattle Dog Rolls

Serves 6
Ingredients
  • 16 ounces Frozen Bread Dough thawed
  • 2 8oz packages cream cheese
  • 1 large yellow onion; sliced into rings
  • 1lb polish sausage (5 large franks); 1/4" slices
  • 1/4 cup Butter melted; divided
  • 1/4 cup salt (optional)
  • 1 tsp water or milk
Directions
  1. Saute and carmelized the onion with butter on med-low for 20 mins; then cover to accelerate the process.
  2. Saute the sausage slices until they are slightly charred, for flavor.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Whip the cream cheese (add water/milk if needed) to make it creamy.
  5. Roll out the bread dough into a 12X18 rectangle.
  6. Us a piping bag to dispense the creamed cheese onto the bread dough without disturbing it.
  7. Layer all the sausage on top; then top with the oand top with the shredded mozzarella cheese in an even layer.
  8. Roll the rectangle length wise into a long log. Pinch the edges to seal the log close to keep it from unraveling while baking.
  9. Mix together the melted butter with salt until combined. Brush this mixture on top of roll.
  10. Bake for 20 minutes.
  11. Use a sharp knife to slice the dough into 16 equal rolls that are approximately 1 inch thick.
  12. Let them cool for about 5 minutes.
Notes
You can vary the amount of the filling, but these approximate what you'll find at the street vendors outside the sport stadiums.
